At City Chiro Sports Center our core treatment includes spinal and extremity manipulations. We emphasize the body's natural abilities to self regulate and heal. When an injury exceeds the body's natural ability to perform these functions, we conservatively utilize some additional therapeutic procedures. We offer the following ancillary treatments:
The purpose of manipulation / adjustment is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.
Rock Tape Certified Provider Basic & Advanced
FMT (Functional Movement Technique) Basic introduces the evidence based approach to taping for pain, enhancing fluid dynamics, posture, nerve entrapment and scars. FMT Basic is an evidence-informed kinesiology taping that redefines our understanding of the effects of elastic therapeutic taping on pain mitigation, circulation and proprioception.FMT Basic lays the groundwork for a practical framework of ‘taping movement, not muscles’ to replace an outdated model focused on directional taping to activate or inhibit muscles.
Sports Massage Therapy
Sports massage therapy helps stretch tight muscles, stimulate inactive muscles and improve soft tissue conditions. Sports massage can enable you to move your body more freely with more flexibility and, in time, can improve your posture. As the name suggests, it is popular with sports people, enhancing performance, assisting recovery, and preventing injury. These are benefits we can all enjoy. You don't have to be an athlete to get a therapeutic sports massage! It's ideal for anyone physically active - as well as someone who's just starting with a new workout, running, or doing anything else that's outside their routine.
FDM Certified Provider (Fascial Distortion Model)
The Fascial Distortion Model is a method of identifying the source of pain by tuning in to the patient's description of their symptoms. Fascial distortions are corrected with hands-on deep pressure application. FDM technique is used to restore mobility and reduce pain. The patient’s verbal and physical descriptions, coupled with the mechanism of injury and relevant orthopedic tests, will lead the practitioner to the proper form of soft tissue treatment.
Shockwave Therapy is a non-surgical pain management technique that is used to treat many musculoskeletal conditions through low energy acoustic wave pulsations. It enhances blood circulation and accelerates the healing process.
Shockwave therapy has shown to effectively treat the following conditions: heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, tennis and golfer's elbow, patellar tendonitis, shin splints, and bursitis.
Kinetisense is the world’s first patented markerless motion capture analysis system. Kintisense’s highly secure, cloud-based platform allows human performance and rehabilitation practitioners to objectively assess biomechanics in real-time. Kinetisense is the software provider of choice for many world-leading health and wellness institutions, physical medicine clinics, and professional sport organizations.
Fire cupping uses glass jars that have an ignited material placed briefly inside them to create negative pressure. The flame is then quickly removed and the jar placed over specific areas of the body creating suction. Fire cupping is used to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, and as a type of deep tissue massage.
Premodulation, Interferential, Russian Stim, High Volt Galvonic techinues use different frequencies of electricity to cause relaxation of muscles, ionic movement of swelling, and a numbing effect on pain.
The HydroMassage water massage is an alternative form of massage therapy that helps to provide relief of aches and pains, helps reduce levels of stress and anxiety, promotes relaxation, and provides a feeling of well-being.
Cold Laser Therapy
TerraQuant® Cold Laser Therapy is cleared by the Food and Drug Administration for temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain, arthritis and muscle spasm, relieving stiffness, promoting relaxation of muscle tissue, temporarily increasing blood circulation.
Cold laser treatments are popular among professional athletes, as well as weekend warriors, for their capacity to accelerate healing, speed up metabolic activity, reduce swelling, and otherwise reduce pain while enhancing vitality. Each treatment can provide relief from muscle strain, arthritis, bursitis, sprains, fibromyalgia, neck pain, back pain, and more.
Xrays & Examinations
We are trained in x-ray techniques and in order to make an accurate diagnosis, may take x-rays of your back and neck. Only after this initial examination will we offer a recommended course of treatment. Based on the analysis of your initial examination, your treatment could consist of chiropractic adjustments, therapies, therapeutic massage, disc decompression, cold laser, nutritional counseling and rehabilitation.
Dry Needling is a form of treatment to treat the muscles of the body which demonstrate pain, knotting or nodules. Dry needling is also known as Myofascial trigger point dry needling. A very fine filament needle is inserted through the skin and into the deeper tissues that are considered trigger points to your pain. Dry needling works by causing a micro-lesion within the pathological tissue, which breaks up shortened tissues, inhibits a reflex arc from the nervous system to the tissue, and normalizes the inflammatory response. This mechanical and neuromuscular effect provides an environment that enhances the body’s ability to heal, which ultimately reduces pain. Conditions include, but are not limited to, neck, back, shoulder pain, arm pain, headaches, jaw pain, buttock pain, and leg pain (sciatica, hamstring strains, calf tightness/spasm). After a session of dry needling, the patient may experience soreness for a few days. Many patients experience immediate relief and a better range of motion after one session.
Decompression relieves pressure that builds up on the discs and nerves. The task of relieving pain comes about as a result of drawing areas of herniated disc back into place. Spinal Decompression achieves this by creating negative pressure within the disc, referred to as negative intra-discal pressure. This creates essentially a vacuum to draw the bulging and herniated disc material back into the disc space and relieve pressure.
Deep Muscle Stimulator
The D.M.S. is the deepest-penetrating massage modality which targets pain and movement restrictions due to under-conditioned or damaged muscle tissue. It applies short-duration kinetic percussion, concussion at 2200 rpm, 36.6 hertz. The D.M.S. is used for the effective management of acute, chronic pain, general or localized muscle spasms, migraine, sciatica, TMJ, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, tendonitis, bursitis, edema, frozen joints, soft tissue injuries, including sprains, strains, musculoskeletal Dysfunction, integrated Manual Therapy and more.
Ultrasonic waves or sound waves of a high frequency that is not audible to the human ear are produced by means of mechanical vibration in the metal treatment head of the ultrasound machine. The treatment head is then moved over the surface of the skin in the region of the injury transmitting the energy into the tissues.
We teach our patients special exercises designed to target specific areas. Therapeutic exercises improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30-40%. This enhances the treatment process and reduces chances of future problems.
Soft Tissue Therapies
A.R.T. (Active Release Technique), Graston, and FDM (Fascial Distortion Model) are all offered at City Chiro Center. They are utilized to treat problems with muscles, tendons, fascia, nerves, and ligaments. We have seen success in patients with carpal tunnel, frozen shoulder, sciatica, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, and many other conditions.
ART Certified Provider (Active Release Technique)
Active Release Technique treats soft tissue injuries created by scar tissue. This is a hands-on therapy used to break up adhesions that cause pain and limit range of motion. The tissue is shortened and then pressure is applied to lengthen the tissue.
The Y-Strap decompression tool is used to stretch the back to release pressure from the vertebrae along the spine.
This tool helps to stretch the spine with slow and constant force, relaxing the muscles and releasing tension in the back and neck.
This full body stretch uses a neck strap: The Y-Strap adjustment tool, to manually decompress the spine.
